As mentioned before the summer, Trondheim Dolphins will be using the Husebybadet pool DAYTIME FOR BABYSWIMMING  a couple of days per week (likely monday and wednesday) – I will be posting the schedule as soon as I know more but am told this may not be until August 2011.

Havstein pool now available for use 2 afternoons per week

I have just returned from a small trip up north but was reading the paper whilst I was away.

I want to thank all those who got involved including; parents, politicians, grandparents etc.. As you may be aware the Trondheim Dolphins will now be able to use extra capacity at Havstein, made available by the upgrades to the pool specified by the politicians. I am yet to finalise the new timetable and the term dates. This is a MAJOR step in the right direction.

Last days for the Revmatismehuset?

Today I visited the St Olavs Revmatismehuset…. it was serene, QUIETER than normal, it made me sad to think that I was witnessing the death of a pool as the last water was slowly being drained from it. It seems both tragic and inconceivable that a pool that has served the community so well for 30 years (until week 25) should now be considered beyond repair while their is still a huge need for it. (Only 30% of dolphins will be able to be accommodated at the Havstein pool)

Keeping the Hospital pool open was not only viable economically (with no burden on the Hospital)  but would have been the most effective way to meet the needs of Trondheim Dolphins and 2 of the hospitals own departments and many other users… sadly short of a miracle it looks like that the Revmatismehuset Pool is set to be closed for ever as the hospital says it is not in its plan, departments do not need it, will cost too much and is beyond repair? and has not been interested in discussing any alternatives except for the pools closure.

What about other pools under the ownership of St Olav´s Hospital?

I have asked St Olavs Eiendom to reconsider my request to have access to either new pool in the hospital and/or Trondsletten but have have been denied these options.

I have also asked about the pool at Brøset and am awaiting a reply about this.
